PCBs manufacture using CNC Router

Manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards Using CNC Routers:
The printed circuit boards are normally manufactured using chemicals like ferric chloride, etc.
These chemicals must be used carefully as these can be dangerous to the health of people.

These days, however, the printed circuit boards can be manufactured using CNC Routers eliminating the need for the dangerous chemicals which are harmful for the environment.
So the CNC manufacturing technique is environment friendly. The waste can collected at one place and be disposed off easily.
A copper clad board is used in CNC Router manfacturing technique while a photo resist board is etched in the other technique. Using photo resist board is a cheaper method of manufacturing but it has big environmental costs associated with it and keeping in mind the economic losses arising out of the environmental costs, the photo etching method is not cheaper than the CNC Router method.

CNC Machines India

How does the CNC machine work?
The required product is first designed using a special software supplied with the machine or one which is compatible with the machine. There are many softwares available in the market.
A manufacturer can get his product designed from a professional and then just feed the code into his machine. Its that simple!
So first the design is fed into the computer which converts the design into a numerical code which can be understood by the machine which then uses to for cutting and shaping the item out of the supplied material.
Safety of the worker dealing with the machine is taken care of in all the CNC Machines.
The material to be shaped is put into a block with double sided tape.
The block to be cut is placed inside the vice. Then the setup is tightened. After that the vice moves up, down, right and left to carve the item out of the block.
Appropriate safety is ensured while working by using Guards, etc.
The CNC is turned on and the cutting is done automatically. When the product is done, it can be removed from the machine.

Working of a CNC Machine

Working of a CNC Machine
A CNC Machine is used for mass production. A CNC machine can be used in industry to create items very fast - like hundreds of articles in a day. Making my hand is not feasible today.

For example you want to make an item out of wood. I would normally take a whole day for a skilled artisan to make that item. But the same can be done in less than a minute using an industrial cnc machine.
CNC machines are of various types. They can work on a wide range of materials - both soft and hard ones.
THe soft materials can be wood, plastics, rubber, etc.
And any hard materials can also be used. There are different machines for different types of materials.

A small cnc machines normally used in small labs and schools is shown above.
The different parts are shown in figure.

Laser Engraving Machines

Laser Engraving Machines are widely used in modern Industrial Applications.
Laser engraving is the practice of lasers engrave or mark an object (it is also sometimes incorrectly described as etching, which involves the use of acid or a similar chemical). The technique can be very technical and complex, and often a computer system is used to drive the movements of the laser head. Despite this complexity, very precise and clean engravings can be achieved at a high rate. The technique does not involve tool bits which contact the engraving surface and wear out. This is considered an advantage over alternative engraving technologies where bit heads have to be replaced regularly.
The impact of laser engraving has been more pronounced for specially-designed "laserable" materials. These include polymer and novel metal alloys.
Materials which can be engraved:

Woods
Plastics
Metals
Coated Metals
Stone and Glass

Cutting
Printing
Sub Surface Laser Engraving
Direct Laser Imaging
